At this year’s Easter Sunrise service at Camp Red Cloud, Korea, I was asked to provide the Easter Prayer. This was my prayer:
Almighty God, Father of our Risen Savior;
We celebrate you today!
This morning our faith and our hope is reassured;
By the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, we have hope.
You provided your Son to pay for our sin;
You justified our faith by lifting Jesus from the grave;
You show us miracle after miracle to encourage us that you are near.
You, oh Lord, are our hope and our faith has found a resting place in you.
As we gather together this early morning, we know that the world is small and the hurts of the community are ever present. We ask that you would lead us all to place our faith in you for our needs; and that through your victory over death we can find our hope in you.
We ask for your blessings on our families, as many are just now ending their Saturday, preparing to celebrate you tomorrow. Watch over them and keep them.
We ask for peace in this world. We know that the world is messy because we are sinful creatures. We confess our sin and plead that there would be peace in our world. And we ask this knowing that all peace comes from you.
You, oh Lord, are holy and we honor you with our worship.
We make this prayer in the name of your son, Jesus Christ, A-Men.
